Defense Dept. May Purchase Dow Corning Silicon 6-01-2010

The Department of Defense could spend up to $2 million to buy Mid-Michigan-made products.
The federal money would pay for various materials produced by Dow Corning.
Silicon generator components, made by the company, are said to save on fuel costs for the military.
The bill was approved by the Senate Armed Services Committee and now heads to a full Senate vote.
Michigan Senator Carl Levin is chairman of the armed services committee.
