Work On Twenty I-475 Bridges Scheduled In Flint 6-02-2010

FLINT, Mich.The Michigan Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin work Wednesday on 20 Interstate 475 bridges in the city of Flint.
The project includes joint replacement, deck repairs and patching, pin and hanger replacement, pedestrian fence work, cleaning and coating of structural steel, and repair work beneath the bridges.
MDOT said the $8-million project is expected to be completed by mid-October
Four bridge closures are scheduled to begin during the first week of work:
  • The 14th Street bridge over I-475 will be closed with traffic detoured.
  • The turn lane under I-475 south of Hemphill Road will be closed and detoured.
  • The turn lane under I-475 north of Hemphill Road will be closed and detoured.
  • The Second Street bridge over I-475, a three-lane, one-way bridge, will be closed and detoured.

Intermittent lane closures will be in effect on I-475 to accommodate the work. MDOT will announce anticipated lane and ramp closures as work progresses.
