Wolverine Center Shooter Sentenced To 5 Years 6-03-2010

The man who opened fire on vehicles outside the Wolverine Secure Treatment Center in Buena Vista Township last year has been sentenced.
A judge ordered Samuel David Kaplan, 44, to begin serving a prison sentence of no less than five and a half years for the shooting incident.
Kaplan was also ordered to pay a restitution of $21,126.
He was found guilty on 24 charges, including carrying a concealed weapon, malicious destruction of personal property and bringing a weapon into a secured facility.
Kaplan did get credit for the 321 days already served.
Kaplan had worked at Wolverine for 15 years but resigned in April 2009 after allegations of sexual harassment.
Kaplan went on the shooting spree in July of ‘09, and fired multiple rounds into the vehicles of current employees.
Investigators said he did not intend to kill anyone, but was there to send a message.
“Cars that were shot were designated parking for employees, so he knew whose car belonged to who,” said Buena Vista police Detective Greg Klecker.
