Church Leaders Call For End Of Violence In Flint 6-04-2010

The increase in violence in Flint is getting the attention of some local church leaders.
A group called Concerned Pastors for Social Action met Friday morning to lay out a plan to curtail the recent crime spike in the city.
Church leaders all from different denominations announced they would hold a public leadership summit to teach residents ways they can help end crime and violence on June 12. The summit is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Foss Avenue Baptist Church.
"We have to roll our sleeves up together and let others know that we are ready to take our neighborhoods back," Pastor Lewis Randolph told WNEM TV5. "No more talk. Now its time for action."
Randolph said the groups will take to the streets and become highly visible in violent neighborhoods.
So far in 2010, Flint has recorded more than 30 homicides.
