Saginaw Career Complex Completes 18th House 6-07-2010

The Saginaw Career Complex building trades class and Saginaw Habitat for Humanity will dedicate a new home to a local family Monday afternoon.
The three-bedroom house, at 1602 S Harrison, is the 18th Habitat house built by the Saginaw Career Complex.
More than 50 women from Saginaw County also lent a hand in the completion of the home. The volunteers hung siding, painting and installing flooring during a Woman Build Project in May.
The home was built using the lasts Energy Star technologies like blown cellulose insulation in the walls instead of installing the usual fiberglass insulation, a high-efficiency furnace, tankless water heater, dual-flush toilet, a heat recovery ventilator, energy heel trusses and higher R-value windows.
In addition to the efforts of the Saginaw Career Complex, Carrollton High School, Delta College and Bridgeport High School also contributed as building sponsors with the four schools building 46 of SHFH's 156 houses.
Saginaw Habitat for Humanity has invested more than $2 million in school-built houses since 1989.
