Local Doctor Indicted On Alleged Drug Charges 6-10-2010

Saginaw resident Dr. Ruth A. Buck was indicted Wednesday on drug charges.
Buck faces three counts of unlawfully distributing controlled substances.

Investigators said she prescribed and distributed more than 1.5 million dosage units of narcotics like Vicodin, OxyContin, Xanax and Morphine for no legitimate medical purposes.
According to an eight page indictment, Buck unlawfully distributed pain killers outside of her professional practice for no legitimate medical purpose.
Federal investigators allege Buck prescribed the doses of pain killers between January 2006 and June of last year, when her office on Gratiot Avenue was raided.
If convicted, she could face 20 years in prison and $1 million in fines.
