Girl Battling Leukemia Gets Hot Air Balloon Ride 6-11-2010

Twelve-year-old Emma Hudson may be battling a deadly disease, but she isn’t letting it get her down.
The sixth-grade Grand Blanc West Middle School student will be honored with a hot air balloon ride.
Chances for a ride in a RE/MAX hot air balloon were raffled off to help raise money in her fight against leukemia.
Emma was supposed to go up in the hot air balloon Friday morning, but it was too windy for takeoff.

Officials said Emma and two lucky school mates, who won the fundraising raffle, will take to the air in the coming days.
Hudson said she never imagined she'd go up in a hot air balloon and she's excited about the prospect.
"I think that's just wonderful, and so much support and everything, it's amazing," said Hudson.
Hudson’s parents are also blown away by the reaction and support of friends and neighbors.
"I think this is amazing,” said Kelli Hudson. “Just the support of the community and of the school, Grand Blanc West, has been just phenomenal for a sixth grader coming in, everything they've done for us is just above and beyond."
Hudson said she’s upbeat about her future hot air balloon ride.
"We're hoping to raise awareness,” said Jennifer Christenson, a friend of Hudson’s. “We need a bone marrow match, so if you could get tested we'd love that."
