Flood Waters Jeopardize Historical Documents 6-14-2010

The Rose City Library is trying to save about 120 years worth of Ogemaw County History after the Rifle River flooded over the weekend.
The flood waters leaked into the library’s basement and damaged several pieces of irreplaceable historical documents.
Officials from the Rose City Historical Society said they are attempting to salvage as much as they can, but need help from city and county residents.
"We need them to help us share their pictures and family history with us again," Cathy Snider said. "We’re (also) going to need new office equipment since we’ve lost everything."

For those documents that could be saved, Snider said insurance will help cover the restoration process.
The storm also washed out several roads and caused the Beechwood Road bridge to collapse.
