Employees Put Out Fire At Michigan Sugar Plant 6-15-2010

Employees of Michigan Sugar extinguished a small fire Tuesday morning at the company’s Monitor Township plant.
The fire was reported at 8:30 a.m.
Employees said they used five nearby extinguishers to put out the fire, which began in a vacuum pump system. The system malfunctioned and the motor continued to run causing drive belts to start burning.
The fire was contained to one pump.
No injuries were reported.
