Perani Arena Ends Lease With Flint Generals 6-16-2010

It appears the Flint Generals have played their final game at Perani Arena.
The club was unable to secure a lease with Perani management, which instead chose to make an agreement to house the Michigan Warriors of the North American Hockey League next season.
The announcement was officially made Wednesday morning in a news release.
Under the lease terms, the Warriors will play junior hockey NAHL home games at Perani Arena as the facility’s anchor tenant through the 2014-2015 season.
"Mid-Michigan will have the opportunity to cheer for a Flint-based team of talented young men, including many hometown products, as they work toward collegiate and NHL opportunities," said Pat McEachern, a member of the Michigan Warriors ownership group.
Michigan-born players who developed their skills in the NAHLinclude Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller, of East Lansing and Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brian Rafalski, of Dearborn.
Perani Arena opened in 1969. Officials said upgrades to the 4,000-seat facility are planned.
