Saginaw Public Schools Plans Curriculum Audit 6-16-2010

Parents interested in learning more about a curriculum management audit at the Saginaw Public Schools attended an overview presentation of the plan Wednesday night.
School spokesperson Safiya Mosley said the third-party examination will help "enhance and provide excellent delivery of our instructional programs."
Phi Delta Kappa will conduct the audit and provide the school system with specific recommendations to improve functions.
The audit will compare the school’s performance against these five standards:
  • Control of resources, programs and personnel
  • Establishment of clear and valid objectives for students
  • Internal consistency and rational equity in program development and implementation
  • Use of the results from district-designed or adopted assessments to adjust, improve, or terminate ineffective practices of programs
  • Improved productivity

Arthur Hill High School, Ruben Daniels Middle School, Saginaw High School and Thompson Middle School all made the state’s list of 108 low-performing schools that are eligible to apply for federal stimulus grants aimed at improving student achievement.
PDK said its licensed auditors are employed as school district administrators, personnel in state departments of education, university professors and educational consultants.
