U.S. Flag Designer's Possessions To Be Sold Off 6-16-2010

The designer of the United State’s current 50-star flag, Robert Heft, passed away last year, but now an estate sale may allow the public a chance to take home a small piece of American history.
Walking into Heft’s home in Thomas Township is a bit like walking into a museum.
Inside lining the walls are all kinds of American flags, from a 48-star flag to the current 50-star flag the country flies today.
Bill Urbanski is holding the sale of all of Heft’s possessions later this week.
It will be held Friday and Saturday at the Kris Trail Mobile Home park, where, appropriately, two flags fly outside of the home.
There are countless photos of the designer with American presidents Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan and George Herbert Walker Bush, and celebrities like Willard Scott and Johnny Carson.
This coming Fourth of July, Heft’s flag will become the longest-serving flag in the country’s history.
