Bay City Reserve Unit To Deploy To Afghanistan 6-18-2010

About 100 soldiers of the 919th Inland Cargo Transportation Co. are preparing for deployment to Afghanistan this weekend.
The group, based out of Bay City, will depart from 1501 N. Henry St. at 10 a.m. Saturday morning for a training session in Crane, Ind.
The unit is slated to arriving in Afghanistan by mid-summer for a one-year tour of duty.
Officials held a ceremony Friday at the post for the troops and their families Friday afternoon.
Family and friends sent off 100 Michigan soldiers at a celebration ceremony. The army reserve unit is based in Bay City. The troops will spend the next year in Afghanistan.
Charlie and Barb Boone sent off their two sons.
“It's hard, it's real hard. You want to laugh, you want to cry, you want to hold them forever,” said mother Barb Boone.
The family held a sign that read, “We love you Boone boys.”
“All the soldiers look alike so if we hold the banner they can find us instead of us trying to find them,” said Barb Boone
It is twice as hard to spot Bradley and Brandon Boone. The 20-year-old soldiers are twins.
“One joined up, the other one decided he wanted to go along with him and you know, do right by our country,” said Charlie Boone.
The Army has deployed some of the soldiers in this company before, but this is a first for the Boone family.
While Bradley and Brandon Boone are fighting for our county their mom and dad are praying for their safe return.
“Just hoping and praying they come back,” said Charlie Boone.
“But you just got to let god take care of them,” said Barb Boone.
The 919th is a heavy machinery company and will mainly operate forklifts.
