Local Man Killed In 'Freak' Lawnmower Accident 6-22-2010

The Taymouth Township Fire Department has confirmed that a man was killed by his riding lawnmower Tuesday afternoon.
Tom McIntyre, Saginaw County central dispatch director, said 54-year-old Paul Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. at a home at 11889 Morseville Road.
Police said the mower became stuck in a ditch and Edwards was trying to push it out when the mower grabbed traction, spun around, knocked Edwards down and pinned him underneath.
Authorities said several neighbors tried to rescue him.
The Spaulding Township Police Chief Jay Bruns, who is also a medical examiner, was called in to investigate the scene of the accident.
An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning, but Bruns says that Edwards most likely died of crushing injuries.
Bruns told WNEM TV5 the incident was a freak accident unlike any he’s ever seen in his career.
