NBA Star Hosts Food Giveaway Event In Saginaw 7-15-2010

Two-time NBA slam dunk champion and Saginaw native Jason Richardson is continuing something he loves. Donating his time and money back to the community.
The former Arthur Hill and Michigan State basketball star kicked off a three-day charity initiative Wednesday with the seventh annual Jason Richardson Golf Classic, which benefited the United Way of Saginaw County.
Earlier Thursday, the Phoenix Suns guard focused his efforts on a community food giveaway that will help feed more than 1,000 families.
Richardson, with the help of Parishioners on Patrol, distributed 25-pound food boxes Thursday in the SVRC Industries parking lot, 1000 Tuscola in Saginaw. The boxes were given away on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The three-day initiative will conclude on Saturday with a “Man-Up” forum from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Victorious Believers Ministry.
The forum will feature speakers and workshops geared toward keeping young men away from violence.
"I want each initiative to impact the lives of youth and families in my community,” Richardson said.
The male-only event is free. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
