Rick Snyder Endorsed By Former Gov. Milliken 7-22-2010

Former Republican Gov. William Milliken has endorsed Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder in the five-way GOP race for governor.
The move gives the most moderate Republican in the race the backing of Michigan's last moderate GOP governor.
Milliken, of Traverse City, was governor from 1969 through 1982.
He said he's supporting Snyder because the businessman has a good track record on environmental issues, supports reviving Detroit and "can help end the bitterness and ugliness" that infest politics.

Snyder volunteered on Milliken's second gubernatorial campaign as a teenager.
“I am profoundly honored and grateful to have the endorsement of Governor Milliken," Snyder said in a news release. “He is a man of tremendous character and integrity who delivered civility and decency to the political process."
Other Republicans facing off in the Aug. 3 primary election are U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, state Sen. Tom George, Attorney General Mike Cox and Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard.
