Snyder Visits Mid-Michigan After Primary Win 8-05-2010

Just days after grabbing the Republican nomination for governor, Rick Snyder kicked off his general election campaign with a stop in Mid-Michigan.
The "tough nerd" made a stop at a sandwich shop in Saginaw to press the flesh ahead of the big November run-off.
Ken Egbert and his wife, Ester, are regulars at Wally’s Old Fashion sandwich shop in Saginaw.
The couple got a chance to meet the candidate and ask him some questions. “Hopefully he can do something for the state of Michigan, and all of our unemployment,” said Ester Egbert.
Just days after winning the primary election, Snyder, 51, is working to set himself apart from his Democrat opponent, Virg Bernero.
“Well, it's fairly straight forward, I’m the proven job creator in the race in terms of bringing that experience, but also very importantly, I’m bringing a vision, a plan and an attitude of action,” Snyder told TV5 reporter Liz Gelardi.
Snyder said he'll make more stops like the one at Wally’s before the November election.
“We already started; right after the election results came in we went to bed, got up at 6 a.m. and we're working for November now,” said Snyder.
Campaign representatives said Snyder stopped in Saginaw because the area needs jobs and economic revitalization. So at the small sandwich shop he tried to convince voters to pick him for the state's top job.
“He could be our next governor, that's what I think of him,” said Ken Egbert.
It's one man's opinion, but there's still a lot of campaigning left to do between now and the November election.

Right now Snyder has only agreed to do three debates with Democrat Virg Bernero, who's been quoted as saying he'd like to do eight debates. It's still not clear when Bernero will be making a stop in Mid-Michigan.
His camp is still working to pull together a schedule, but he is making appearances on Fox News and MSNBC later Thursday.
