Attorney Asks To Withdraw As Defense Counsel 8-05-2010

A Bay City attorney has asked a judge to withdraw as defense counsel for a woman charged with killing her husband.
According to the Saginaw News, the judge will consider the motion Thursday.
Attorney Ed Czuprynski was representing Rebecca Shimel, who is accused of shooting 48-year-old Rodney Shimel last December.
Czuprynski said he knew Rodney Shimel personally.
Last month, Shimel, 45, rejected a plea deal that would have dropped her charge to second-degree murder.
Rodney died of multiple gunshot wounds in the upstairs bedroom of the couple's North Sheridan Road home on Dec. 28, according to WNEM TV5 records.
Police said the couple’s four children were also home at the time of the shooting.
Shimel has been in jail since last December following the shooting incident.
During Shimel's preliminary exam, police said they found Rodney Shimel's bullet-riddled body in the couple’s upstairs bedroom.
