Rains Flood Floor Of Mt. Pleasant-Area Hospital 8-12-2010

Heavy rains flooded basements, roadways and even damaged a hospital in Isabella County’s Mount Pleasant Wednesday night.
The emergency room of Central Michigan Community Hospital was evacuated for a short time as nearly 6 inches of water covered the first floor.
Patients who were already admitted at the hospital were transported to the third floor for treatment. However, hospital officials said new patients would not have been turned away if it was an emergency.
A few miles away, residents at the Oxford Row Apartments reported water as high as the bumpers of vehicles in the parking lot.
Flooding also damaged several elevator shafts at Central Michigan University and left nearly a foot of water on the school’s football field.
Up to a foot of water was also reported on High and Bellows streets in Mt. Pleasant.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Isabella and Midland counties until early Thursday morning.
