State Expanding Crossbow Hunting Regulations 8-19-2010

State wildlife officials have expanded crossbow hunting regulations to try to retain and attract hunters.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment have made several changes, including lowering the minimum age for crossbow use from 12 to 10 years old.
Department specialist Brent Rudolph said the change standardizes regulations allowing hunters 10 and older to use crossbows and other archery equipment.
Another change is expanding crossbow use to legal hunters during archery and firearm seasons in the Lower Peninsula.
Crossbow use will remain prohibited during the late archery and muzzleloader seasons in the Upper Peninsula unless the hunter is disabled.
