F'Muth Police Say Robbery Victim Stabbed Self 8-20-2010

The Frankenmuth Police Department has completed the investigation into an alleged nighttime robbery and stabbing incident from Aug. 16.
This incident occurred in the 800 block of Ardussi Street in the City of Frankenmuth.
A female caller to 911 stated that a man claimed he had been stabbed with a knife and cut numerous times in a parking lot by unknown assailants, who had fled the area.
Police said after the crime scene was processed, there were numerous statements made by the victim which did not correlate with evidence left at the scene, including the many photographs taken by investigators and forensic evidence collected at the scene.
After a follow-up interview with investigators, authorities determined the 12 wounds the victim received, a 29-year-old Bridgeport man, were all self-inflicted.
He is currently cooperating with police in the investigation.
Police said it appears there are many mitigating circumstances in this incident, which may require intervention from other agencies including Saginaw Community Mental Health.
Right now the man's name has not been released pending possible criminal charges.
