Field Neurosciences Institute Debuts New Device 8-25-2010

The Field Neurosciences Institute in Saginaw will be hosting an open house at its research lab Wednesday.
The lab is located in Medical Arts Building III, 4677 Towne Centre Rd., Suite 101.
The event will showcase FNI's newly purchased flow cytometer. The $80,000 device allows researchers to select the best types of adult stem cells to regenerate and transplant.
According to FNI's executive director, Gary Dunbar, PhD., "The results obtained already have provided evidence that when properly selected, adult stem cells can survive longer after transplantation than most other researchers thought possible."
Stem cell research at FNI took root in 2001.
"FNI is already emerging as a major organization in our state's neuroscience community," Dunbar said. "I believe our influence on the national and international levels will also become increasingly recognized over the years."
Wednesday's event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
