Township Schools Raises Pay-To-Play Rates 8-25-2010

Some students in Saginaw County will have to pay a bit more to get in the game this year.
Each of the 1,500 student-athletes at Heritage High School and White Pine Middle School have to pay and extra $25 to play sports.
Saginaw Township schools Board of Education have upped the registration fee from $50 to $75 dollars per student.
The district athletic director and Heritage officials said the spike is assessed only one time during the school year rather than once for each sport the student plays.
Saginaw Township Community Schools said they have made many cost-saving changes this year as a result in cuts in state aid per pupil.
The fee increase will generate an more than $17,000.
