Fritz Trial: Day 2 Of Coach-Student Sex Case 8-26-2010

The second day of testimony in the criminal sexual conduct trial of a former Owendale-Gagetown softball coach continued Thursday in Tuscola County Circuit Court.
Day two of the Fritz trial focused on how the lead investigator collected evidence leading to 20 counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a 14-year-old student, who is alleged to have become pregnant with Fritz's child.
Fritz's defense attorney Kevin Rieman tried to poke holes in the testimony of state police detective Mark Krebbs and his methodology of getting the accused softball coach's side of story.
"So you corrected Mr. Fritz on his statement?" asked Rieman. "No," said Krebbs. "I don't believe I was correcting him on the date. It was 2005, not 2004."
Rieman took the detective to task for each and every entry on his report and explored who was involved in assembling the detective's final assessment.
The detective said his secretary assisted in compiling the report. "I tell her what I want her to type and she types it," said Krebbs.
Neither Fritz nor the student, who is now 19 years old, have been charged in connection with the death of the student's child.
Prosecutors said they believe the child is buried at an undisclosed location in Tuscola County.
