Manufacturing Equipment Arrives At GlobalWatt 9-01-2010

Assembly and manufacturing equipment has been delivered to the GlobalWatt site in Saginaw, putting the maker of specialty solar energy products one step closer to launching production.
Officials said the beginning of production will mean job growth.
"As soon as the equipment is ready to go on line, we’ll be filling positions to begin production," Sanjeev Chitre, GlobalWatt chairman and chief executive officers said in a news release. "But we will be starting out slowly as we train people and test-run the systems."
Late last year, California-based GlobalWatt announced it would locate its $177 million solar parts facility in a vacant 74,000-square-foot auto plant in Saginaw.
The equipment manufacturer’s technicians at GlobalWatt will now begin the process of setting up the new machinery for plant floor production. Afterwards, Chitre said he plans to increase security and limit media coverage in order to protect the company's technology from competitors.
"While the company has been very open to the media and public as it has moved in and begun renovations in its facility, security will increase once equipment is on the floor," he said. “We’re in a very competitive business and the way we build things is something we need to guard very carefully.”
Company officials have said about 400 direct jobs will be created by the year 2016.
