Principal Arrested For OWI, Blew .17 On BAC 9-02-2010

The Millington High School principal and varsity football coach who is facing a drunken driving charge registered .17 on a portable breath test for alcohol. The legal limit in Michigan is .08.
Roger Bearss, 45, was arrested on July 25 after Bay City police stopped him for driving the wrong way, published reports said. He was arraigned a day later on one count of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Bearss is due back in court on Sept. 24 for a pre-trail conference.
In 2003, Bearss pled guilty to driving while impaired near Traverse City. He was given two years worth of probation, a $550 fine and had to take a highway safety class.
At the time, Bearss was employed with the Frankenmuth School District.
Millington superintendent Lawrence R. Kroswek released a written statement earlier this week saying its practice is not to comment on any employee, status or situation that may lead to disciplinary action.
Bearss is a 1983 graduate of Millington High School and was a starter on the football squad.
