During Manhunt, Police Find Pot Growing In Field 9-02-2010

Michigan State Police said they've arrested two men who are suspected of breaking into a home in eastern Saginaw County on Thursday.
Law enforcement officers had searched cornfields and back yards near M-46 just west of Gera Road for the two men.
Police said the home invasion happened at a home on Beyer Road in Blumfield Township.
Authorities said earlier, a resident called 911 to report a suspicious man rang the doorbell and asked for a woman who did not live there.
The caller notified police with a description of the person, who was driving an older model Cadillac, the caller said.
Officers responded but were unable to locate the car, which they believed was the same one involved in last week's home invasion in which a dog kept a burglar confined to a single room in a house.
When state police and Frankenmuth police located the men in the 1100 block of Beyer, they learned the men had piled up long guns on the front porch of the home and fled out the back door when officers arrived.
A K-9 unit and Michigan State Police helicopter helped track down the men, who were hiding in a cornfield. Both men are currently lodged at the Saginaw County Jail.
During the incident, the Immanuel Lutheran School on Holland Road was placed on lockdown. That lockdown has since been lifted.
Residents in the same area had also been asked to remain in their homes, but authorities now say they are free to move about.
Meanwhile, when the helicopter was searching for the men from the air, the crew spotted a marijuana growing operation.
As seen from the air, the plants were standing out with a bright green hue amongst brown, dry corn husks.
A short time later, several officers showed up to remove the plants.
