Bernero Says 'No' To Banks That Won't Lend 9-02-2010

LANSING, Mich.Democratic gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero said he'll stop the state from doing business with banks that won't lend in Michigan if he's elected.
He unveiled the plan Thursday to about a dozen Lansing residents in a downtown coffee shop.
The Associated Press left a message Thursday seeking comment from a Michigan Bankers Association spokeswoman.
Bernero said Wall Street banks aren't lending to small businesses that could be adding jobs or working with Michigan to stop foreclosures by participating in the state's Helping Hardest Hit Homeowners Fund.
Bill Nowling, a spokesman for Republican opponent Rick Snyder, said Bernero's proposal won't add jobs.
Nowling said Snyder doesn't intend to attack businesses.
