MMR Sends EMTs To Help With Oil Spill Cleanup 9-08-2010

Crews from Mobile Medical Response in Saginaw are being deployed to help the cleanup crews dealing with the oil spill in the western part of the state.
The MMR crews will provide medical support for several weeks to those working to clean up oil in the Kalamazoo River near Battle Creek.
MMR said each 2-person EMT team will be working a 12- to 13-hour shift to provide medical support in case of an emergency.
MMR crew members will be accompanying the cleanup crews on boats as they travel the contaminated waterways.
The spill back in July sent nearly a million gallons of crude into the river. The exact cause of the leak is still under investigation.
The crews will leave Thursday morning and will be rotated out and replaced by new EMTs on a weekly basis.
