Saginaw Township School Bus Delays Improve 9-08-2010

Bus delays continued on Wednesday for Saginaw Township schools.
Buses ran up to 30 minutes late again Wednesday morning, a day after many students returned home from their first day back at school hours behind schedule.
Some parents told TV5 their children didn't arrive home until after 5 p.m. Tuesday, two hours late.
"We're not expecting perfection on the first day, we just definitely did not expect to loose our child for three hours," said parent Stephanie Dunn, who's child attends a Saginaw Township public school.
Officials said they're making some adjustments to the busing schedule and methods for transporting the kids.
TV5 is told part of the problem is that there are man elementary students going to new schools. "He was very scared when he got off the bus. He had been on the bus for three hours," said Dunn.
Officials held the children over on Tuesday to make sure students were loaded onto the correct buses.
"It was almost two hours before they would have normally gotten home," said parent Marilyn Norman.
Township school officials said they're acting on the side of caution, and they'd rather be slow than make a mistake.
"What we're going to be doing today is making sure every student has the name tag on it with the bus that they need to transfer to," said Dr. Jerry Seese, Saginaw Township Schools superintendent. "That was the problem yesterday. The transportation department wasn't going to have any buses move in the evening until all students were in the right place, double checked, and we were probably very cautious because we are concerned about safety and security."
Township officials said they were a bit slow Wednesday, but time tables were much better than on Tuesday.
