United Way Creating 'Outdoor Reading Centers' 9-10-2010

United Way of Saginaw County, along with Bay and Midland counties, are partnering together to host the first ever Regional Day of Caring.
The group will build "outdoor reading centers" at selected elementary schools in each of the three counties on Sept. 18.
Officials said the outdoor reading centers will provide a teaching opportunity with enough benches to seat one classroom of youth.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the building of the Saginaw County outdoor reading centers at the following locations:
  • Atkins Elementary, Bridgeport
  • Big Rock Elementary, Chesaning
  • Brunkow Elementary, Buena Vista
  • Carrollton Elementary, Carrollton
  • Freeland Learning Center, Freeland
  • Handley Elementary, City of Saginaw
  • Ling Elementary, Hemlock
  • Merrill Elementary, Merrill
  • Millet Learning Center, Bridgeport
  • North Elementary, Birch Run
  • St. Charles Elementary, St. Charles
  • Weiss Elementary, Saginaw Township
