$1M Copper Theft Hits Communication Tower 9-21-2010

Authorities say about $1 million in copper has been stolen from a communication tower in Flint.
A Sprint communications repairman discovered the recent theft and reported it to police.
It occurred some time between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday on Branch Road near Davison Road.
An air conditioning cover was removed along with copper pipes from the unit, and a 30-pound copper plate was taken from a control room.
Wiring also was taken.
The man told police the thief had to have climbed over a barbed-wire gate barrier to get to the copper.
