Virg Bernero Accepts Pastors' Debate Proposal 9-27-2010

Gubernatorial candidate and Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero accepted an offer to participate in a debate from a large organization of Flint pastors.
On Friday, the Concerned Pastors for Social Action held a news conference announcing its plans to invite both candidates -- Bernero and his opponent, Rick Snyder -- to a debate in Flint in the next several weeks.
“Debates provide the public the opportunity to really get to know the candidates,” Bernero said. “I welcome the opportunity to compare my economic plan and my record of creating jobs here against Mr. Snyder’s record of creating jobs in China. I am glad to accept the pastors’ offer for a debate.”
A Snyder spokesperson immediately issued this statement, "Rick has agreed to a live debate televised and available to all stations across Michigan on Oct. 10. Rick looks forward talking about his plan to reinvent Michigan and his commitment to revitalize Michigan's core cities during that debate."
The pastors said in their invitation that the debate would follow a town hall meeting format with moderators and focus on issues directly affecting Flint residents.
The Concerned Pastors of Social Action said it represents dozens of congregations throughout the Flint area.
