Taxpayers To Pay $8M In Genesee Towers Case 9-28-2010

FLINT, Mich. -- City officials said Flint residents will likely see a special tax this December to pay for the $8-million Genesee Towers judgment.
Flint Mayor Dayne Walling said the average assessment per household will be a one-time fee of about $150.
City attorneys were fighting a 2008 court order that said the city had to take over the 19-story building located on the corner of First and Harrison streets.
Before the towers were damaged by flooding in 2001, they were home to a radio station, an upscale restaurant and a bank.
