Police Unite For Domestic Violence Awareness 10-01-2010

Local law enforcement agencies joined the Bay Area Women's Center in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Friday.
Officers lined patrol cars in the parking lot at the Bay Area Women's Center and had purple ribbons placed on the antennas of their cars.
Officers said the ribbons act as a visual reminder that the community will not tolerate any type of domestic violence.
Bay County Prosecutor Kurt Asbury said the public can also get a free purple ribbon to show support for domestic violence victims.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from the first Day of Unity observed Oct.1, 1981, by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
