Communities To Get Federal Construction Dollars 10-01-2010

Lawmakers announced on Friday that Michigan will receive more than $5 million in funding to help finance facilities in rural communities throughout the state.
U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin issued a joint news release that said the funds are provided through the USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities Program.
Communities can use the funding for child care centers, hospitals, medical clinics, assisted-living facilities, fire and rescue stations, police stations, community centers, public buildings and transportation.
Mid-Michigan communities benefiting from this funding are below:
City of Gladwin: The funding will be used to help construct a farmers’ market. $78,000
City of Harbor Beach: The funding will be used to expand and remodel a library. $615,000
Ten Sixteen Recovery Network, Midland : The funding will be used to help construct a residential substance abuse facility. $250,000
City of Standish: The funding will be used to help construct a fire hall building. $485,000
Gladwin City: The funding will be used to expand and remodel a police station. $220,000
