UM-Flint Rally To Support Student Body Leader 10-05-2010

Students at the University of Michigan in Flint held a rally Tuesday afternoon to show support for Michigan Student Assembly President Chris Armstrong.
Armstrong, an openly gay student, was publicly attacked by Michigan's Assistant Attorney General Andrew Shrivell last week.
Shirvell's online blog attacks included putting a swastika over a gay pride flag in a photo of 21-year-old Armstrong.
The unity rally was at the comer of Kearsley and Wallenberg streets.
The UM-Flint Student Government issued this statement:
The University of Michigan-Flint Student Government stands in solidarity with our fellow student Chris Armstrong, the President of the Michigan Student Assembly. Chris serves the entire University of Michigan student body with honor and distinction, and we consider him a valued colleague and friend.
Although we are connected to Chris through our university campus affiliation, we are also united firmly in the belief that discrimination in any form is unacceptable. As the representative body of the students of UM-Flint, we advocate for acceptance and understanding, and a campus that is inclusive and welcoming for all people.
