Tough Questions: Store Clerk Fired After Robbery 10-05-2010

TV5 has new information on a story you've been talking about since we brought it to you yesterday.
A former Mid-Michigan gas station clerk was fired after he was robbed at gunpoint because he had more money in the till than he was supposed to.
We've put in some calls and learned the man has had a couple of job offers, and apparently, several people have called the Admiral gas station to voice their opinion about what happened.
By the way, we're still waiting for Admiral corporate management to return our call and comment on the situation.

WNEM TV5 went out to ask the Tough Questions after a gas station clerk was robbed at gunpoint and then fired from his job.
The gas station owner said Spencer Weirauch, 20, had too much money in the register when the Admiral station in Saginaw Township was robbed.
And while Weirauch told TV5 that was true, his family is asking if his firing was justified.
Weirauch's father, Craig, said he was too embarrassed to go on camera but he said he can't believe his son is out of a job.
"Supposedly, he has a little bit more money in his till than he was supposed to and that was their reason for firing him, but I don't know, it's just sad all the way around," said Craig Weirauch.
TV5 went in search of the gas station's manager, named Marty, but he and current station employees refused to speak with TV5 reporter Liz Gelardi.
After the manager wouldn't talk, TV5 called the Admiral headquarters to see what their policy is, but no one got back with TV5.
"It's just unfathomable that a company would just push someone out the door for something that isn't even his fault," said Craig.
Weirauch said his son is still shaken from the robbery, and on top of that, he's upset because he'll have to find another place to work.
"Basically, he's the one that got robbed, too, because he lost a job over it; they robbed him [of] his job," said Craig.
It's not clear how much money was taken in the robbery or how much extra was in the register at the time.
Stay with TV5 and as the investigation into this story continues.
