Merrill Student In Critical Condition After Crash 10-07-2010

A Merrill High School student who was injured in a two-vehicle traffic crash Wednesday night remains in critical condition.
The crash occurred just after 7 p.m. at Townline and Fordney roads in Fremont Township.
The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office said Daniel Jacob Rigg, 16, was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra northbound on Fordey Road when he attempted to make a left turn.
During the turn, his vehicle collided with a 1997 Dodge Ram truck traveling eastbound on Townline Road.
Deputies said the driver of that vehicle, 19-year-old Jacob Edward Nagel, had the right-of-way in the intersection.
Rigg was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extracted by the Tri Township Fire Department. He was airlifted to Covenant Hospital where he is in critical condition.
A female passenger was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital. She was last listed in stable condition, deputies said.
Nagel did not sustain any injuries and was released at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
