Electric Mitsubishi Becomes City's First Plug-In 10-08-2010

Mitsubishi Motors took part in a ceremony in Bay City that officials said helped usher in the age of the electric vehicle.
At 5 p.m. Friday, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV became the first all-electric vehicle to plug-in and use the electric-ready parking space in the Downtown Development Authority parking lot, 900 N. Water St.
The vehicle, which is slated to go on sale in the fall of 2011, can get about 50 to 80 miles per charge. It's only 133.7-inches long and rides on super-narrow 145/65R15 front and 175/55R15 rear tires
Mayor Charles M. Brunner, state Sen. Jim Barcia and state Rep. and Jeff Mayes were on hand for the event.
On Saturday, Bay City is hosting the annual Motown Mitsubishi Owner's Day at Showcase Mitsubish.
Officials said some lucky attendees of the show will get to experience the future of transportation firsthand by taking a ride in the Mitsubishi i-MiEV
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV will also be display to the public during next week's Northwood Auto Show held at the Northwood University campus in Midland.
