Section Of Genesee Street Project To Reopen 10-08-2010

Great news for anyone who has tried to drive around downtown Saginaw for the last six months or more: The construction nightmare is finally nearing an end as concrete pouring and city street beautification comes to an end.
Construction workers told TV5 that North Franklin Street will open Friday to motorists.
Crews have worked throughout the summer to a finish the $4.6 million overhaul on East Genesee Street.
The roadway has undergone major street, sewer and water main construction and was expected be completed until late September or early October, city officials said.
The project, according to city officials, will help with Saginaw's revitalizing efforts by replacing several downtown sidewalks and decorative streetlights.
The newly reconstructed road will be featured in the October issue of Roads and Bridges Magazine as one of the Top 10 Road Projects in the country.
