Ribbon-Cutting Set For Bishop's New Deicing Pad 10-21-2010

Bishop International Airport Authority will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony on a new, $5.6 million deicing pad on Thursday.
The project was primarily funded by two grants from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Michigan Department of Transportation also contributed $146,000, and the Bishop International Airport Authority locally matched their funds with an additional $146,000.
"With the addition of this deicing pad, we can reduce the chances of possible environmental impact," Airport Director Jim Rice said in a news release. "As always, we want to do all we can to prevent the exposure of storm water runoff to deicing fluid."
Flint Mayor Dayne Walling and Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Tim Harman are scheduled to speak at the 10 a.m. event.
Deicing pads are aircraft holding areas located near the runway.
