Police: Mom Made Up Daughter's Abduction Story 10-25-2010

Flint Township police responded to a retail fraud complaint Sunday evening at a Target store on Miller Road.
Store employees reported to police that they apprehended a 26-year-old woman trying to steal a television.
The woman told police her 4-year-old daughter had been abducted by a man who had ordered her to steal a television in exchange for the return of her daughter.
Police said when they heard her story, they issued an Amber Alert for the girl.
That alert was later rescinded when police said they learned the woman had lied about the abduction along with her own identity.
Police said the child was found safely in the care of her guardian.
Authorities said the woman was arrested and taken to the Genesee County Jail on charges of falsely reporting a child abduction, identity theft, false identification to the police and retail fraud.
The Genesee County prosecutor is reviewing charges against the unnamed woman. Police also reported she had six outstanding warrants for her arrest.
