Firefighters Battle Barn Fire In Saginaw County 10-28-2010

The Tri Township Fire Department responded to a barn fire in Saginaw County Thursday morning.
The blaze started just after 3 a.m. in the 4300 block of North Chapin Road in Jonesfield Township.
Fire officials said a couple of antique tractors were destroyed in the fire.
“I tried to get [them] out, but the heat got too intense,” said homeowner Bruce Rigg. “[I lost] a couple of my antique tractors that have just been restored, a trailer, snowblower and all of my garden equipment.”
No injuries were reported.
As the rubble smoldered, Maxine Rigg was counting her and her husband’s blessings.
“We got lucky [the fire didn’t spread],” said Maxine. “That was my biggest fear, I’ve seen it happen, when it goes from one building to another. We were lucky the wind was blowing the way it was.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
