Suspected Serial Stabber Tasered After Jail Fight 10-28-2010

TV5 learned Thursday afternoon of an incident involving suspected serial stabber Elias Abuelazam being Tasered by Genesee County Jail officers.
Published reports out of Flint said Abuelazam was Tasered after a fight with deputies broke out on Wednesday.
The Flint Journal reported it took several deputies to restrain Abuelazam, and two officers were injured while trying to hold down the 6-foot, 5-inch Israeli native.
Authorities at the jail said Abuelazam would be chained and shackled at all times going forward when he is released from his cell.
The Flint Journal reported that an agreement made between the prisoner and jail officials allowed him to be unbound for an hour per day.
The 34-year-old is charged with felonious assault and attempted murder in the stabbing of Tony Leno who was standing outside a Toledo church in August when a man asked him for directions and then began stabbing him.
Leno survived the attack, and Abuelazam was arrested a few days later while trying to board a plane for Israel.
He also faces one murder charge and five attempted murder charges in Michigan. Five men were killed and nine injured in a series of stabbings in the Flint area.
Earlier in October, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton charged Abuelazam with malicious destruction of property.
Abuelazam is accused of smashing a car window in a bar parking lot in Genesee Township.
Leyton said that the July 12 incident may have been in retaliation for something that happened inside Jester's Lounge on North Center Road in Genesee Township.
The charge is a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
Abuelazam also is suspected in four attacks in Virginia and Ohio. Leyton said the investigation and forensic testing of evidence continues in those cases.
