GM Assembly Plant Reaches End Of The Line 11-01-2010

In a way, it’s the end of the assembly line for a General Motors plant.
Monday marks the beginning of the somber shutdown of GM’s Flint Engine North.
The three remaining plants there are expected to be completely off line by late December. It also means 330 workers will soon be without a job.
The plant, which affectionately became known as “Buick City,” first became operational in 1905 and at one point produced vehicles top rated by J.D. Power and Associates.
Though a majority of “the Buick’s” employees will be displaced, 80 of the total 445 Flint Engine North workers are moving to Flint Engine South, the plant that’s manufacturing the Chevy Volt and Cruise.
