Michigan Voters Weigh In On 15 Congressional Races 11-02-2010

DETROIT

Michigan voters are selecting at least four, and possibly more, new members of the state's congressional delegation.

That's because veteran congressmen in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd districts are retiring and Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick lost in the 13th District Democratic primary.

Other high-profile races in Tuesday's election are the 7th District in the south-central part of the state and the 9th District inside Oakland County, where freshman Democrats Mark Schauer and Gary Peters are scrambling to hold onto their seats.

There are more than 100 competitive House races nationwide, and Republicans need to capture 40 seats on Election Day to claim a majority.
