Midland Fire Crews Extinguish Commercial Fire 11-05-2010

Midland fire crews were called to a commercial structure fire on the city’s southeast side Friday morning.
Fire officials said Magnum Construction Company, 3500 Centennial Drive, near Waldo Road caught fire around 9 a.m.
When Midland firefighters arrived, they said flames were shooting out of the roof at the manufacturing and storage facility.
Firefighters said the heat was so intense, the roof collapsed into the building, trapping some of the fire inside and making it difficult for firefighters to get to.
The owners of Magnum Construction did not want to comment on camera about the blaze, but did say they believe the fire started with a gas furnace on the second floor, and the fire quickly spread through the rest of the building.
The owners said while the building is a total loss, they point out they've been at the location for almost 30 years.
They said they have insurance and plan on rebuilding the facility as soon as possible.
