Additional Police Called In For CMU-WMU Game 11-05-2010

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is preparing for Friday’s CMU vs. WMU football game by increasing its police presence.
According to a news release, local law enforcement officers, officers from surrounding counties, as well Michigan State Police troopers will be patrolling post-game gatherings that typically occur in and around the student housing area.
Police said laws covering disorderly conduct, nuisance parties and alcohol violations will be strictly enforced.
"The police department has an obligation and duty to create a safe environment by protecting people and property,” Mt. Pleasant Director of Public Safety Anthony Gomez said. “For this coming Western weekend activities, we will be increasing our enforcement efforts and continue with a zero tolerance approach."
Gomez also said vehicles that block roadways or alleys will be towed immediately.
