Family Returns Temple Theatre To Saginaw 11-05-2010

It’s being called the greatest gift ever presented to the community of Saginaw.
The Shaheen family, who purchased and restored the 83-year-old Temple Theatre in 2002, has returned the treasure to community.
A foundation will now take over the Temple. To get their fundraising off to a strong start, the Shaheens have provided a leadership gift of $700,000.
The Temple Theatre's website states that in 2002, the family of Dr. Samuel Shaheen purchased the Temple Theatre and the adjoining three-story building, which contains a Grand Ballroom, Premier Room, Leopard Lounge and a commercial kitchen.
After an investment of more than $7 million, the “Showplace of Northeastern Michigan” was returned to her original glory.
In May, 2009, the Temple Theatre Foundation was granted 501(c)3 charitable status and launched a $3.5 million capital development campaign. The foundation hopes to support the operation, maintenance and preservation of the theatre as well as ensure the vibrant future of the arts in the Great Lakes Bay region.
The Temple is home to several arts groups, including the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Choral Society, Saginaw Valley Concert Association and Temple Theatre Organ Club.
